While creating a single find request, each record found will meet all the criteria entered.
For example, if you put “Inside” in the Program field and “2” in the Term field, each record found will meet both criteria: Inside program AND a 2nd Term apprentice.
What if instead of a logical AND, you'd like to utilize a logical OR?
For example, you want to find records that are either an Inside Apprentice, OR a second term apprentice.
You can do this by using Multiple Find Requests.
This is especially helpful when you want to find records that meet two different sets of criteria in the same field.
How to Utilize Multiple Find Requests
- Go to Find Mode and enter your first set of criteria (e.g., “Inside” in the Program field).
- Click New Request in the toolbar to create a new request.
Note: The status slider now shows you have two find requests. The new request is blank so you can enter a second set of criteria. - Enter your second set of criteria (e.g., “2” in the Term field).
- Click Perform Find.
Result
Your search results will include some records that meet the first request’s criteria and some that meet the second request’s criteria.
Example
To find Apprentices in either the Inside or Residential program:
- Go into Find Mode.
- Type “Inside” in the Program field.
- Click New Find Request.
- Type “Residential” in the Program field.
- Click Perform Find.
Results will be apprentices in either program.
